STEP 1: WATCH THE VIDEO ALL THE WAY THROUGH
It's easy! Start by watching the video below all the way through. It will help make this a fun and easy experience!
STEP 2: ADD WATER
Pour 10 cups of water (75°F - 78°F) into the container.
Important! Water temperature affects how quickly your cast sets. Cooler water slows it down, and warmer water speeds it up. For the best experiencce, use a thermometer to make sure the water is within this temperature range.
STEP 3: PRACTICE YOUR HAND POSE
Start by placing the container at a height where you can comfortably hold your pose for 5 - 6 minutes. Choose your hand pose for the molding process and practice it in the container to make sure you are comfortable.
STEP 4: MIX THE STEP 1 MOLDING POWDER
Slowly add the Molding Powder into the water while stirring. Do not dump it in all at once—this can cause air bubbles. Mix for 1–3 minutes until the color turns bright pink.
💡 TIP: The molding material will never be lump-free.
STEP 5: DIP YOUR HANDS
The mixture will start bright pink. Wait until it fades to light pink. Once the color fades, then gently dip your hands in. Keep your hands and fingers off the sides and bottom of the container to avoid damaging any part of the casting.
💡 TIP: Add a drop of baby oil onto hands to help avoid air bubbles.
STEP 6: WIGGLE YOUR FINGERS
To help avoid air bubbles, gently wiggle your hands and fingers. This allows the molding material to cover every part of your hand and fingers.
💡 TIP: Remember to keep your hands and fingers off the sides and bottom of the container.
STEP 7: LET IT SET, THEN REMOVE
Hold your hands still for 5–6 minutes while the mold sets. To check if it’s ready, lightly touch the top of the mold — it should feel firm and not stick to your fingers. When it is ready, gently wiggle to loosen, then slowly remove one hand at a time.
STEP 8: MIX STEP 2 CASTING STONE
Pour 3 cups of water into a separate mixing bowl. Slowly add the Step 2 Casting Stone into the bowl and mix until it is smooth. Set aside 1 tsp. for touch-ups later.
STEP 9: SLOWLY POUR, TILT & TAP
Add about half of the casting stone mix into the mold. Tilt, tap, and rotate the container to release air bubbles.
💡 TIP: To avoid air bubbles, pour the Casting Stone slowly. Tilting, tapping and rotating the container will help release all trapped air, especially at the finger tips.
STEP 10: POUR TILT & TAP AGAIN
Pour the remaining casting stone into the container. Tilt, tap, and rotate the container to continue releasing air bubbles.
STEP 11: LET YOUR LUNA BEAN SET
Allow your Luna Bean casting to dry for at least 4 hours before demolding.
🚫 IMPORTANT: Do not pour any casting material down the sink or drain. Dispose of extra material in the trash instead.
STEP 12: REMOVE THE MOLD
To loosen the mold, pull on opposite sides of the container to break suction. Slowly flip the container over and carefully slide the mold out.
STEP 13: DEMOLD CAREFULLY
To reveal the cast, slowly peel away the molding material using the plastic knife or your fingers. Peel in smaller pieces to avoid damaging the fingers of the casting.
STEP 14: CLEAN & TOUCH UP
Use the detailing tools to remove any excess casting stone or molding material. Use the 1 tsp. of extra casting stone (from Step 8) to fill in any imperfections.
STEP 15: LET YOUR LUNA BEAN DRY
Allow your casting to dry in a well ventilated area for 5 - 7 days! Once dry, use sandpaper to smooth out any rough surfaces. For an added touch, decorate however you'd like!
