Luna Bean Hand Casting Kit - Instructional Video

Thank you for choosing Luna Bean! Let's create a beautiful keepsake together.

Prepare your area and practice hand poses in the bucket before starting. Make sure your hands are not touching the sides or bottom of the bucket.

Follow the step-by-step instructions below!

Step 1: DUNK - Creating Your Mold

Important Tip: Before you begin, watch the step-by-step instructional video. It will make the experience easier and more fun!

• Measure out 10 cups of cold distilled water (75°-78°F) and pour it into the molding bucket.

• Gradually pour the molding powder into the water and mix thoroughly until it turns pink.
TIP: The material will never be entirely lump-free.

• Dip your hands into the bucket as the molding mixture starts to fade from pink to gray. Keep hands from touching the inner sides or bottom of the bucket.
TIP: Add a drop of baby oil onto hands to avoid surface air bubbles.

• Hold hands in place until the mold sets. It will feel firm and not stick to fingers when touched. Once the mold is fully set, wiggle hands to release and remove one at a time.

Step 2: POUR - Casting Your Hands

• Pour 3 cups of cold distilled water (75°-78°F) into a mixing bowl.

• Add the Casting Stone into the bowl and mix until blended (3-4 min). Set aside 1 tsp of Casting Stone for touch ups later.

• Pour half of the mixed Casting Stone into the mold. Tilt and tap the bucket to release air bubbles.
TIP: Rotate the bucket at an angle several times to fill all areas.

• Pour the remaining Casting Stone into the mold, tilt and tap the bucket again.
TIP: Do not pour any casting material down the sink or drain. Dispose of extra material in trash.

• Allow casting to dry for at least 4 hours before demolding.

Step 3: PEEL - The Big Reveal!

• To loosen the mold, pull on opposite sides of the bucket to break suction and slide the mold out.

• Carefully peel away the molding material using the plastic knife and demolding sticks to start multiple tearing points.

• Carefully remove molding material in small sections.
TIP: Use caution to protect the casting around delicate fingers.

• Use the detailing tools to remove any excess casting stone or molding material that doesn’t belong.
TIP: Use remaining casting stone from Step 7 for touch ups.

• Allow your casting to dry in a well-ventilated area for 5-7 days!

• Once dry, use sandpaper to smooth out any rough surfaces.
TIP: Seal, paint, or decorate after completely dry.
